Yass Landcare nursery volunteers were hard at work on Saturday 12th November sowing native seed for plants on our Climate Ready plant list. All tasks are important when working in the nursery from making up tubestock trays, to sowing seed into the appropriate seed base, and cleaning out pots where previous sowings were unsuccessful. Many hands make light work so if you are interested in assisting the Yass Landcare nursery team we are meeting again on Saturday 19 November from 9.30 to noon behind the Yass Community Centre 1428 Yass Valley Way.

The nursery volunteers are also preparing for a plant sale on Saturday 26 November from 9.30 to noon, a plant list with photos will be provided in later posts.

Landcare nursery managers within YAN are requesting regional landholders who have large numbers of mature plants, which are part of the YAN Climate Ready list, to consider collecting local seed when the seed matures in coming months. If you are keen to assist in this venture please email Kath.

Are you interested in collecting native seed from Eucalyptus melliodora - Yellow Box in the Yass Valley region?

The Climate Ready team are keen to talk to landholders who have multiple, mature Yellow Box trees with accessible branches, on their property - to collect seed when it is mature which should be possible from December to March.

The iconic Eucalyptus melliodora is a keystone plant in our regions Climate Ready list - so if you have multiple trees on your property with accessible branches please let Kath know via email to discuss how you can assist in the task to collect local native Eucalyptus melliodora seed.

Do you have Dodonaea viscosa subsp. angustissima - Narrow-Leaf Hopbush on your property and willing to collect seed?

Dodonaea viscosa was one of three keystone plants in our regions Climate Ready trial which commenced in 2020. If you have multiple plants which are maturing and currently seeding and are willing to collect seed for our Climate Ready team to grow in our regional Landcare nurseries please email Kath.
