Our YAN Nurseries

Yass Area Network is proud of it’s volunteer-run native plant nurseries. While they all operate slightly differently, there is strong cooperation and coordination between them, especially in growing Climate Ready seedlings for distribution across the Yass Valley.

Volunteers are very welcome to help out in our nurseries! No experience is necessary and help is always appreciated. See contact details below.

Bowning Bookham Landcare Nursery

The Bowning Bookham Landcare nursery is dedicated to growing plants for both conservation projects and members of Bowning-Bookham Landcare Group. The nurseries grow a wide range of native plants that are specifically chosen for their suitability to the local conditions, ensuring they thrive once planted. The plants include trees, shrubs, groundcovers, sedges and grasses. The nursery team is committed to growing healthy and robust plants, so you can be confident that you are getting high-quality plants that will contribute to the restoration and conservation of our local environment. 

Location

The Bowning Bookham Landcare nursery is located on a private farm. Appointments by arrangement.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering opportunities are available at our Landcare nursery for spring seeding and at other times throughout the year, where you can help grow plants for restoration projects and members.

Plant Sales

Members of Bowning-Booking Landcare Group have access to the nurseries and can purchase plants at a discounted rate. Details about becoming a member can be found here.

Murrumbateman Landcare Community Nursery

The Murrumbateman Landcare Group Community Nursery provides plants to financial members of Murrumbateman Landcare. It does not sell plants to the general public. To become a member of Murrumbateman Landcare, visit this page.

Murrumbateman Village (more details provided by group once you have become a member).

Plant Sales

The nursery is staffed by volunteers and is not a commercial concern. Financial members of Murrumbateman Landcare Group can obtain native plants for their property or garden, for free. Click here to find out more. 

Yass Landcare Community Nursery

The Yass Landcare Community Nursery grows a range of native plants as part of the Yass Area Network Climate Ready Project.  Plants are grown for ridges, slopes and riparian areas.  Plants are sold to Landcare members, the general public, and for specific land regeneration projects in the region.

Location

The nursery is located behind the Yass Men’s Shed, at 1428 Yass Valley Way, Yass.

Volunteer Opportunities

The nursery holds working bees on the second Saturday and the fourth Tuesday of each month from 9:30am to 12 noon.

Plant Sales

Price : $2.75 GST inclusive per tube for the general public.  Yass Landcare members can purchase tubestock at $2.20 per tube. 

Plant sales:  During the 2026 March to September planting season the Yass Landcare nursery will be open on the second and fourth Saturday of March to September 2026 - YAN Calendar

Available stock:  As at March 2026 we only have small trees and understory plants available for sale. A new range of Eucalyptus have been sown and will be available from Spring 2026 for purchase.
